Franz Ferdinand have just released a new song on iTunes (Aug 19th) called ‘Lucid Dreams.’ The song is included on the Madden NFL ‘09 Soundtrack.
I haven’t listened to it just yet but thought I’d post up a link on youtube for all you die hard fans.
It’s also possible to listen to the song on their website: http://www.franzferdinand.co.uk/lucid-dreams/index.html. The artwork while playing the song on the site is awesome. Proper Rustic ;)

So, if you don’t know who ‘The Decemberists’ and ‘Colin Meloy’ are now, then I give up.
According to Wikipedia:
Colin Meloy played several new songs that may be included on the next album, while the full band premiered new songs during their performance at an 2008 Barack Obama rally in Portland, in front of 75,000 attendees.
Some irresponsible and immoral person (whom I love) has posted some new songs online so I just had to listen. The songs are awesome. ‘Burying Avy’ is very, very Beatles ‘Hey Jude’-like but with a Decemberists twist. The quality of the recordings aren’t that good but you can tell that their sound is progressing and hardcore fans of ‘The Decemberists’ won’t be disappointed. They will be satisfied with these recordings for the time being.
‘Colin Meloy Sings Live’ and it’s popularity has introduced a whole load of new people (including me) to their music. There is very little information available about their new album but 2009 cannot come soon enough and it will definitely be one to listen out for. Enter e-mail here for updates or RSS feed here.

See article on new single ‘Dig Out Your Soul‘ also.
In typical Oasis fashion, ‘Falling Down’ one of their new songs is a Beatles rip off. The slow song is a cross between ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ by The Beatles and ‘Violet Hill’ by Coldplay. There are lots of backward guitars very reminiscent of ‘The Beatles’ revolver era.
I gave up on Oasis years ago after The Beatles and Smiths began to satisfy my guitar music needs. Afterall, is Noel Gallagher’s career not based on late Beatles with a little bit of Smiths thrown in for their first album ‘Definitely Maybe?’
The album will no doubt sell by the bucketloads to dedicated fans and undoubtedly we will see a tour next year, hopefully seeing Oasis lead Glastonbury because errmm well this year’s lead was shite. If this song is an indicator for the rest of the album, we’re seeing Oasis at their usual. I don’t think there are any acts out there who compare to Oasis. I don’t think Coldplay are good enough to take their throne.
‘Dig Out Your Soul,’ their seventh studio album is set to be released on October 6, 2008, and October 7 in the United States. ‘The Shock of the Lightning’ will be the first single released on the album. It’s possible to hear a short clip on the band’s site.
