Ryanair have duped me twice in the past month. I am beginning to dislike them. I actually considered working for them after I got my Masters Degree because I had researched them extensively for my Postgrad Diploma. Last year, flying with them was excellent (using my Laser Debit Card) and it was ideal going from Cork to Dublin and back or else Cork to London and back.
The first incident in August was when I couldn’t check in online because I left it before the 4 hour deadline (which they didn’t make clear at all) and I had to pay €5 at the airport just to get a slip of paper for boarding. That was ridiculous. Half the queue I reckon had to go to another queue to pay for the boarding pass and then back to the original queue. This must generate alot of money for Ryanair. It’s only €5, but €5 multiplied by the number of people who get tricked like this is ALOT of money.
Today, I purchased two flights for €0.00 initially, then plus taxes came to €88 then a mastercard charge for €20. It costs them €20 to process a mastercard transaction apparently. What a load of bollocks!
Is there any bother in complaining though? Italy recently fined them for false advertising but I’m sure €54,100 is nothing to them. Imagine the revenue they generate for charging €20 for a credit card transaction.
The website is highly confusing too. By default, they were charging me €30 for two people for insurance and being the first to board. This is absolutely ridiculous. If they want to include these, the default option should be “no.” If I had availed of these two services my “free flights” would have come to €138.
Ryanair need to start advertising with taxes and charges included because consumers are starting to get frustrated. They need to include these charges on the initial search rather than the later confirming pages. The ironic thing is that Ryanair are probably STILL CHEAPER with the taxes and charges added on. Why don’t they divulge the full cost then?
Michael O’ Leary has a habit of blaming the government, especially the Irish one as the reason the prices are high. He will undoubtedly divert you to the Airport Authorities if you have a problem with the added on taxes, as it has nothing to do with him. He’s offering the flights for “free.” If he has any business sense, he needs to change the misleading and cloaked pricing or consumers will start looking elsewhere.
I haven’t even discussed excess baggage: Read between the lines here: http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=bag or here for a specific case of which you will find hundreds more on google. This is common and has also happened to me before.
My free flights ended up costing €108 on the chepeast day of the year to fly i.e. September 11th.

Have a look at this Family Guy Clip where the Griffin family are observing a verteran parade when Peter gets the chance to try ‘The John McCain Experience’ ride.
After entering the bamboo cage, a Viatnamese man starts poking him in the side to which Peter cries, “I wannna be president!”
This goes well with my thoughts that the fact McCain was a Prisoner of War doesn’t qualify him for the position of U.S. President.
Info on McCain’s POW days here:: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCain#Prisoner_of_war

Olympic Fever is here. You know it’s important if google changes it’s homepage icon. I’m now watching the opening ceremony and it’s dragging on and on and on and on… George Bush must have fallen asleep by now or requesting burgers. The camera pans to him every other minute but hasn’t recently.
It’s nice to see the Irish team go past but I don’t know any of the athletes. I’m not one bit interested in sport but I supposed I should have some interest for nationalism’s sake. Oooooohhhh there’s a full list here. I wonder will there be any scandals this year and hopefully none arising from Ireland.
I wonder will there be any Tibet related hassle or drama from here on… Only time will tell.
